Lord of War intro

As part of my thriller research I decided to watch the opening sequence to Lord of War (2005) directed by: Andrew Niccol.

I thought the idea behind the sequence was very good, as the film is about arms dealing. The whole intro is shot from a 1st person perspective, where you get to see the life of a bullet. We start if being made in a factory, being put in a crate, being viewed by an army general, then sent to Africa. The bullet is then out into a gun and shot out, it hits a young boy in the head.

The execution of this intro however left it looking too clinical, and unreal. The bad angles, camera movement, and the obvious CGI bullet made the whole thing seem false, as if it wasn't actually happening.

To me the intro to Lord of War seems like a good idea that was either not executed properly or too hard to execute. I think it serves as a good reminder that what may seem a good idea at first, ends up not looking as good as imagined in the final product.
