As part of my research I decided to wath the film Inception by Christopher Nolan. The film featured all the thriller genre's conventions. The film had me sitting on the edge of my seat, although at the beggining it was a bit hard to follow the story, there was a lot of mystery and that made me want to watch even more. During the film there is a common rule that if his spinner stops spinning then they are not dreaming.
At the end of the film, it cuts before you see whether or not the spinner stops spinning so the viewer never knows if the man has stopped dreaming or not.
The intro of he film starts with the man appearing to have washed up on a beach. He then goes to a chinese temple, and a battle ensues. We wander what this battle is about, and who these people are. We then find out that actually it all happened in a dream, and the attacker were trying to extract information. This makes want to continue watching this film to discover how they have tis ability and how they are going to use it. Suspense is built all the way through the intro, to keep us wanting to watch
